Sheer suffering
I do not believe that sheer suffering teaches. If suffering alone taught, all the world would be wise, since everyone suffers. To suffering must be added mourning, understanding, patience, love, openness and the willingness to remain vulnerable.

Dear Stressed Out:
Keep your need for control and perfection in a healthy perspective. Control freaks and perfectionists often experience a lot of stress in their lives. My personal and professional experience has demonstrated to me that demanding an “A-plus” from yourself in everything that you do often catches up with you sooner or later, physically and/or mentally. Also, learning to let go of things that you can’t change is essential to good mental health. As the lines from a famous song by Kenny Rogers goes, “You’ve got to know when to hold ’em, know when to fold ’em, know when to walk away, and know when to run.”

Open your eyes to what’s right in front of you, and allow yourself to fully experience it

6. Forgive. Most of the time, when we’re clinging to the past, we’re holding onto anger or bitterness. You see how much better things could be if only he did this, or she didn’t do that. But he didn’t. Or she did. We’re all human. We all make mistakes. Sometimes without remorse. Holding onto anger doesn’t punish the person who hurt you. It just prolongs your pain. Let go of that pain.

The Fourth Step
Meditation means to me, witnessing on three levels: action of the body, thoughts of the mind, feelings of the heart. Once a person becomes aware of these three things, the fourth step happens on its own accord.
You can call it his soul, his being, and it is the greatest bliss in existence. There is nothing above it.

Shantideva

Get it right!
Some people fail to differentiate between marriage as a religious institution and a civil institution. While marriage as a religious institution should be governed by people's faith and the tenets of their religion, marriage as a civil institution should be governed by principles of fairness.

Confrontation
Whoever goes into meditation risks a confrontation with himself:
The mirror of meditation never lies, and it does not flatter.
It is impartial and innocent and it never projects anything.

How to Live a Better Life with Less
Have less. If you learn that enjoyment of life isn’t having stuff, you’ll be able to let go of it … and declutter. Having a life with a minimal amount of clutter is so enjoyable, so peaceful, it’s hard to describe. It leaves you feeling free, without the stress that comes with an overwhelming amount of stuff, and leaves room in your life for relaxation. Less of a focus on buying stuff means you also have more money, or less debt, or you need to work less in order to live the life you want. Any of those options are good.
